Tax Day... trying to make it the last one

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in south Jersey.
Mild temps... soft breeze... sunny.

Good day to stand in line at the Post Office to mail off your federal taxes.

So, myself and 5 other FairTax supporters got permission to go and hand out information about the FairTax bill to all of those folks waiting in line. We were there from 9-3 and handed out over 500 fliers.

You could tell most folks were ticked off about their tax situation and most were receptive to our information. There are always skeptics and doubters- folks who think things can NEVER change.
AND unless you speak up- THEY NEVER WILL CHANGE!

The FairTax bill HR;25 is in the legislature right now, to change our current tax system. It currently has 72 co-sponsors in the House of Rep. and is in the Senate with 5 co-sponsers so far.

What is the FairTax ?
The FairTax plan is a nonpartisan proposal that replaces all federal income and payroll taxes with a progressive tax on consumption (national retail sales tax). It includes a cash "prebate" that ensures no American pays federal taxes on their spending for essential goods and services up too the poverty level.

• Every American can keep their entire paycheck, no more federal witholding or payroll tax deductions taken out of your check. No more taxes on your savings and investments or on your estate at your death.
  
• All federal income taxes, corporate taxes, death taxes, capital gains tax -GONE!
• IRS and 16th Amendment - GONE!
• Completely untaxes low-income families.
• Untaxes tuition
• Positive impact on retirees.
• No federal taxes or compliance costs hidden in consumer prices, making American made goods more competitive in a global economy
  
• Raises the same amount of revenue as the current system.
  
• Promotes economic growth and substantial wage increases for working Americans.
• Stops the export of American jobs- will increase jobs in America.
  
• Taxes illegal immigrants and captures much of the underground economy escaping taxation today.

Why are people SUPPORTING the FAIRTAX?

• FAIR- No more special interest exemptions, tax loopholes, or deductions and the lobbyists who peddle them. EVERY American is treated the same.

• SIMPLE- No more IRS, complex tax code, or preparing and filing of individual tax returns!

• INDIVIDUAL CONTROL- When you buy something, you see exactly how much you are contributing to the government on your retail receipt. No more "Hidden taxes" in the purchase price. Choose how much and when to pay federal taxes. You are taxed only when you choose to consume rather than on your income and productivity.

• THE PREBATE- To ensure no American pays tax on necessities, the FairTax Plan provides a prepaid, monthly rebate (prebate) for every registered houshold to cover the consumption tax spent on necessities up to the federal poverty level. This, along with several other features, is how the FairTax completely untaxes the poor, lowers the tax burden on most, while making the overall rate progressive.
